The article views one of the possible causes of preserving the Russia’s raw materials orientation – underestimation of non-material assets, non-utilization of mechanisms of legal registration and registration, scientific approving and practical application of such resource as NMA. Innovations and NMA should be created purposefully. After forming the necessary conditions, this process can be controlled. The methods of accounting and application of such NMA types as business reputation, brands, etc, should be elaborated, as well as systems of intellectual property elaboration within the country. Further improvement of institutional bases of economic activity is needed.
