On the improvement of the russian legislation in the sphere of arctic waters pollution prevention during the continental shelf development
The article is dedicated to the problem of environmental protection of the Arctic Ocean water area, which is connected with the prospects of increased exploitation of the arctic shelf deposits. It is noted that the existing legislation base does not provide the completely efficient state policy on the developing of the Russian Federation continental shelf. The author comes to a conclusion that an indispensable condition of the practical realization of the efficient nature-protecting system for oil and gas deposits development at the Arctic shelf is the appropriate political will of the government and the legislation bodies of the Arctic states, as well as the responsible ecological strategy of the companies operating on the shelf.
